GTA Online: Further Adventures in Finance and Felony Set for June Release

Image
To further lend proof to the notion that Rockstar Games isn't interested in adding single-player content to Grand Theft Auto 5, the company has announced yet another update to its multiplayer component, GTA Online. Called Futher Adventures in Finance and Felony, it promises to be "one of GTA Online's biggest and deepest updates yet". And Rockstar appears to be putting its money where its mouth is, allowing players to be the CEO of their own criminal enterprise, hinting at what could possibly be an in-depth trading element to it as well. "Acquire a high-rise office and special warehouse properties to begin buying and selling a range of contraband across the city, all the while fighting the LSPD and the rest of the southern San Andreas criminal underworld for access to the rarest items and the biggest profits," the post on Rockstar's website reads. It will be available from June 7. GTA developer Rockstar has been in the news albeit for the wrong ...

It's called 'delayed drowning.' Here are 4 key warning signs plus the single best way to prevent it.

Image
In 2008, a young boy named  Johnny Jackson  went swimming and accidentally swallowed some water. He had a short coughing fit, toweled off, and then went home. No big deal. Or so his parents thought. A few hours later, after going down for a nap, Johnny passed away. In 2014,  a toddler named Ronin  came frighteningly close to the same fate.  He slipped briefly into a pool before being pulled to safety by his mother. Ronin was shaken up but seemed fine. Watching from the patio is a no-no. Get in the pool! Photo from Thinkstock. Later that night, he lay stretched out in an ambulance as it screamed toward the hospital, where he arrived just in time. Stories like these have resulted in an  outburst  of  news coverage  around what's being referred to as "dry drowning." But that's a bit of a misnomer. Since we're entering the season of pool parties and beach trips,  here  are a few things you really need to know about wh...

10 photos of seriously wounded vets remind us about the real costs of war.

Image
Photographer David Jay specializes in fashion and beauty, stuff that's "beautiful and sexy — and completely untrue," as he puts it. But that's not all he photographs. Three years ago, Jay began to take pictures of young, severely wounded soldiers returning home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Trigger warning: These portraits don't shy away from wounded bodies. Be prepared. I found them shocking at first. But keep looking. The more I looked, the more beauty and humanity I found reflected here. (The photo captions are from the Jay's Unknown Soldier Project Facebook page.) This is 1st Lt. Nicholas John Vogt, U.S. Army. On Nov. 12, 2011, he was severely injured by an IED while on a foot-patrol in Panjwaii, Afghanistan. We took these pictures this past weekend in the swimming pool at Walter Reed Medical Center. I asked Nicholas for his permission to post these images and this was his response: "The only thing that I want to pass on is this:...

(The Simpsons) Homer Went Live on The Simpsons and Declared the Show Will Never End

The Simpsons  did the unthinkable: it went live. Yes, a cartoon went live. At the end of the Sunday, May 15 episode, Homer Simpson ( Dan Castellaneta ) answered live fan questions for three minutes. "It only took us 27 years to do what they could do in 1954," Lisa Simpson ( Yeardley Smith ) said in the introduction. "This is the last episode of  The Simpsons ," Homer said. "Just kidding, The Simpsons  will never end." The episode featured Homer gaining back his public speaking confidence by taking an improv comedy class. (Crazy Alligators) Alligators Have Learned To Ring Doorbells -- Perhaps We Should Be Concerned

Image
There is perhaps no creature that's more universally feared than the alligator, and that's especially true in the South, where these reptiles reign supreme. These scary buggers love going where they don't belong just to prove that they can. And that urge often brings them into close contact with humans. Earlier this week, a family in South Carolina learned that terrifying lesson when an alligator sauntered right up to their front door and rang the bell. I know it sounds like the beginning of a terrible children's movie, but the man who shot this video captured the whole ordeal. He was quick to point out that the gator just wanted to find its way out of the neighborhood, and that it wasn't feeling aggressive. (via  Metro ) That being said, if you live near alligators and your doorbell rings when you're not expecting anyone, you should probably just run and hide. These gators are getting a little too smart for my liking. Share this Crazy Allig...

If There Were A Nuclear Attack In The 1970s This Is What Would Have Been Broadcast

Image
You might say that the 1960s were when Cold War tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union reached their peak, but that doesn't mean that the 1970s were any picnic. The people of both nations lived under the constant threat of all-out nuclear war. To prepare for this possibility in the U.S., radio stations in different cities were instructed to create official attack warnings. These recordings were to be broadcast to the population in the event of a nuclear strike on American soil. While these messages are ominous, they still have a friendly flavor to them since they were recorded by radio hosts. In the video below you can hear the attack warning message recorded by Jim O'Brien for Philadelphia's WFIL in the early 1970s... It really makes you think about how many announcements they have these days...there's gotta be at least one for a zombie apocalypse, right? Source:  http://www.viralnova.com/attack-warning-message/

One woman had a strange, eye-opening encounter in a Target bathroom.

Image
I went to Target with my daughter last week. Since it was right after dinner and I'd had three iced teas with my Mexican food, I made a pit stop to the restroom first thing while she went on ahead to check out the swimsuits. SHARE Photo via iStock. I was alone in the restroom. There were two large handicapped-accessible stalls, complete with baby-changing tables, and two regular stalls. I headed all the way down to the farthest single stall, up against the wall, and I sat down to take care of business. That's when stuff got weird. The outer door opened, and someone came into the restroom. She walked past the three open stalls and stood directly in front of my door.  Then she leaned over and placed her eye firmly up against the gap between the door and the frame and stared in at me. SHARE Photo via iStock. I am not making this up. And let me tell you, it was awkward. Bizarre even. This wasn't a case of someone hoping all those occupied stalls are...
